Furthermore, information provided to the Injuries Board has been used by defendants in court proceedings to support applications to dismiss cases. Therefore, it is crucial that the information you provide to the Injuries Board/PIAB is accurate and up-to-date.
Compensation is decided on a case-by-case basis – by the Injuries Board and courts. They are bound to take account of published guidelines which lay out the appropriate level of compensation for each type of injury. Before beginning your claim, you may want to gather as much evidence as you can. Things like medical records, payslips (you may be able to claim loss of earnings), photographs, names and addresses of witnesses etc can all prove invaluable in claiming your compensation.
